Ant McPartlin says battle with depression and prescription drugs addiction put strain on marriage to wife Lisa: 'I've put her through hell'

Ant, 41, recently left rehab following a two-month stint to battle his depression and addiction to prescription drugs, after revealing to his wife that he needed help.

The Britain’s Got Talent presenter was flooded with support from his colleagues and close friends – including life-long presenting partner Declan Donnelly – as he entered rehab, but has thanked wife Lisa especially, for coping "amazingly" with it all.

"I’ve put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you," he told The Sun.

Ant continued: "I’m very sorry about the effect it has on partners. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage.

"In hindsight, I should have mentioned it earlier but you’re embarrassed about it."

He was then asked if his marriage will survive what he has been through in the past few months, with Ant describing his wife as "fantastic".

He replied: "All I can say at the moment is that she’s been amazing — fantastic throughout. And we’re good. I was desperately worried about Lisa in rehab. But they start introducing phone calls after a few weeks.

"This is something that I’ve gone through, I’ve done it. I’ve stuck to it. I’m proud of doing it. There’s a very positive outcome which is great."

Ant also made sure to thank long-time friend and colleague, Dec, for his support
