T in the Park 2017 CANCELLED: Scotland’s biggest festival will ‘take a break’ next year
DF Concerts have run the festival for more than 20 years but have announced they will be taking a break in 2017.
In a statement, organisers said they will take a year off to address “challenges” with the new festival site.
The annual event – that’s run since 1994 – moved to Strathallan Castle two years ago.
“Against our will, and despite a prolonged fight, we were forced to move from Balado, Kinross in 2015,” the statement read.
Organisers admitted the move was a “mammoth task” and they were hit by “site restrictions”.
In the build up to 2015’s festival, another spanner was thrown in the works when an osprey’s nest was found on site that was protected by law.
“The constraints – logistically and financially – that the resulting planning conditions put upon us are simply not workable,” the statement continued.
All the problems led to the most complained about festival in its history in 2015.
T in the Park will now “take stock” on their year out.
They’ll “try to resolve the issues so that we can once again deliver the kind of camping festival you are used to and deserve”.
