Lucy Pargeter pregnant: Emmerdale star announces she's pregnant with twins after 11 year struggle to conceive
Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter, best known for playing Chas Dingle on the soap, has revealed exclusively to OK! magazine that she’s pregnant with twins after struggling for 11 years to get pregnant.
The actress, 39, and her fiancé Rudi Coleano have shared their joy over the news, announcing that they’ll be welcoming twins in April 2017.
The couple, who have an 11-year-old daughter named Lola, were keen to have more children and tried for 11 years to conceive.
Lucy and Rudi couldn’t conceive naturally, and turned to IVF, but the actress was left “devastated” when one pregnancy test came up negative.
“When it failed, it was devastating after all the drugs, preparation and all the mental stress we were put through,” Lucy explained.
She added that doctors weren’t able to discover why it took 11 years of struggling to conceive.
“Nothing was physically wrong with us. We had all the tests and Rudi’s sperm count was rocking and my egg reserves were fine,” Lucy said.
The couple had a second round of IVF, something which Lucy said has cost her “thousands and thousands” of pounds.
“We had two [eggs] put in the first time and they didn’t stick. We hoped one would stick, but both did!”
Lucy said she did two pregnancy tests after the embryo transfer, and was so impatient that she took the pregnancy test secretly.
