Katherine Heigl gives birth: Greys Anatomy actress welcomes baby boy with husband Josh Kelley

The Greys Anatomy star and her husband Josh Kelley welcomed their first son over the Christmas period - but has been keeping it a secret.

The pair named their newest addition, who was born on December 20, Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr.

Writing on her blog, Those Heavenly Things, Katherine admitted it meant December was a very busy month for her family.

“The Christmas holidays are a pretty big deal in my family and not only will we now be celebrating our baby’s birthday around Christmas, Josh and I also celebrate our wedding anniversary December 23rd,” she said.

“So it’s a month full of joy and gratitude for us for many reasons!”

Katherine and Josh are already parents to two adopted daughters.

They adopted Naleigh, now eight, from South Korea in 2009. Katherine’s younger sister Meg was also adopted from the country and Katherine said it was always something she wanted to do.

“Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged,” she told Parent and Child at the time.

“My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea.

“We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom. So however we do that, it’s fine with me.
