Americans React To The Cubs' World Series Win
The Chicago Cubs celebrate after defeating the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in Game Seven of the 2016 World Series.
Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years.
Game 7 unfolded as we probably should have expected a major championship game would play out in a year like 2016: It was batshit crazy.
The final game was packed with all the drama that makes for good baseball and good TV: a scrappy underdog (the Cubs) hitting a leadoff home run, an epic swan song play by the Cubs’s David Ross, a two-run game-tying home run courtesy of the Indians’ Rajai Davis, an eerily accurate game prediction from 2014 - and then it started raining, for extra dramatic flair.
All of which basically means Twitter was appropriately on fire.
Below, see how America reacted to the amazing World Series finale and to the 2016 World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs.
