Pakistan Military: 5 Soldiers, 10 Militants Die in Border Raid
Mohmand Agency, Pakistan
Islamic militants attacked several Pakistani border posts Sunday night in the tribal region along the border with Afghanistan.
Pakistan's military said Monday five soldiers and 10 militants were killed in the attacks in the Mohmand Agency, one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal districts on the Afghan border.
Pakistan's military said in a statement, "Effective presence, vigilance and response repulsed [the] terrorists' attempt."
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Pakistan has long been home to both local and al-Qaida-linked militants.
The militants' ability to easily slip from one country into the other along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan continues to be a point of contention between the two countries.
Last month, a series of attacks along the border killed more than 125 people.
